Nike invited members of New York City’s street fashion community to help them redesign the Nike polo for a fresh new take on a classic fashion staple.
Each polo has been tie-dyed by hand for a one-of-one look with colors to commemorate different eras in sportswear and athletes who defied convention. The Multicolor polo pays homage to the first track runner to sign a deal with Nike, Steve Prefontaine, and his rebellious personality by dying it with a rainbow of colors and even using an embroidered image of Prefontaine on the left chest in place of the Nike logo. The Volt is inspired by the colorblocking used in 90’s tennis sportswear by dying with two colors, green on top and yellow on the bottom. The Pastel honors current tennis aesthetics with a perfect gradient blend of purple, pink, and blue.
The polos will drop on the SNKRS app on August 2nd for a retail price of $85 USD. Check the app now for a few behind-the-scenes features. Take a look at the photos below and let us know what you think.
