Original Story (08/02/21): LeBron James’ ninth signature shoe, the Nike LeBron 9, made its debut in the fall of 2011 and released in multiple colorways throughout the ’11-12 NBA season. The Jason Petrie-designed model will be making its return as a retro later this year for its 10th anniversary, similar to how Nike brought back the LeBron 8 in 2020.
The original LeBron 9 featured Nike Hyperfuse and Flywire technology on the upper with Zoom Air in the forefoot and an 180 degree Max Air bubble in the heel. The first colorway of the LeBron 9 revealed for the model’s comeback is a new one that comes in blue and black with green accents and a pink sockliner. We may be completely wrong here, but this may be a continuation of the “South Beach” Florida-themed colorways, as the leafy graphics on the sockliner are reminiscent to the graphics that cover the “Everglades” LeBron 11.
