A Ma Maniére — the luxury retail concept from James Whitner and The Whitaker Group — introduces the next chapter in its ongoing partnership with Jordan Brand: “Built For This.”
Following their Every Summer Tells A Story campaign from earlier this year, this next narrative is rooted in resilience, earned celebration, and the perseverance it takes to rise. It salutes those who hustled when no one was watching, who turned hard lessons into stepping stones, who understood that real success is built, not simply given.
Leading the “Built For This” collection is the Air Jordan 6 “Smoky Mauve,” a premium take on the classic silhouette defined by elevated materiality and purposeful restraint. Suede uppers are dressed in a rich mauve tone, while a quilted inner lining—a signature AMM detail—nods to vintage high fashion. Subtle co-branding appears on the tongues, while a milky translucent outsole balances the warm tonal palette.
Inside the shoe box lies the work of Jammie Holmes, a self-taught artist known for capturing the texture and nuances of Black life in the Deep South through his paintings. His featured piece, Malcolm, depicts a young man attending one of Malcolm X’s speeches to the Black Muslims. His facial expression, suspended between exhaustion and hope, is set against a floral backdrop of daylilies and morning glories, symbolizing the fleeting nature of beauty, life, and success — a reflection of how strength and light must be recognized before they fade. This artwork underscores the campaign’s core themes of transformation, endurance, and collective faith.
The Jordan 6 is accompanied by an A Ma Maniére x Jordan apparel capsule featuring elevated essentials, including a refined knit polo and a monogrammed-lined tracksuit that extends the brand’s language of quiet luxury. “Built For This” Part 2 will release in December, featuring a new A Ma Maniére x Air Jordan 4.
To celebrate the launch, A Ma Maniére and Jordan Brand will host The Unboxing, an intimate experience taking place across all A Ma Maniére locations throughout November, inviting guests into a curatorial dialogue centered on Holmes’s work, which anchors the visual language of the campaign. The event series begins in Atlanta on November 13th at 7pm, continues in Washington, D.C. on November 16th at 5pm, and concludes in Houston on November 20th at 7pm, where Jammie Holmes will be present.
The A Ma Maniére x Air Jordan 6 and apparel capsule drops November 21st on the A Ma Maniére website (12pm ET) and at AMM locations in Atlanta, Houston, and Washington, D.C. at 11am local time. EQL draws for the Air Jordan 6 are now open across TWG retailers (A Ma Maniére, Social Status, APB, and JAIDE), with entries accepted until November 17th at 3pm ET.
