adidas Originals is revisiting its archive through a more elevated lens. One year after unveiling its inaugural A-TYPE collection—originally gifted to the brand’s Friends & Family—the Three Stripes is now releasing its first A-TYPE pieces to the public.
A-TYPE, a premium line handmade in Italy, pays homage to the brand’s legacy while elevating statement silhouettes from adidas’ archive. The collection is anchored by a revived 1970s Trefoil logo and executed through luxury materials and artisanal craftsmanship.
At the center of the collection is the A-LEATHER Superstar, which takes its form from the silhouette’s earliest prototype. Adorned with a premium leather upper featuring a debossed canvas texture, the refined pair is finished with cashmere shoelaces with detachable lace tips, silver-plated lace jewelry, and a Lightstrike Pro midsole. The Superstars arrive in a molded shoe box accompanied by wooden shoe trees, reinforcing the collection’s luxury positioning.
The apparel offering is crafted from sheep leather and includes the Archetype Firebird tracksuit, made up of the A-LEATHER Track Top and A-LEATHER Pant—both produced in Italy with a focus on elevated construction and comfort.
Ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the lineup also extends into football-inspired pieces, including an A-TYPE jersey, football, and carrier. However, these items remain Friends & Family exclusive and will not be part of the public release. The A-TYPE football draws inspiration from the Three Stripes’ Trionda ball and features a leather strap, positioning it more as a collectible design object than performance equipment.
