Jordan Brand is revisiting that chapter with the upcoming Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Last Dance at the Garden,” a release that honors one of MJ’s most memorable performances on one of the sport’s biggest stages.
On March 8, 1998, Jordan arrived at Madison Square Garden wearing the Air Jordan 1 “Chicago,” a shoe that was already more than a decade old at the time. Despite the outdated technology and the physical toll it took on his feet, he dropped 42 points in a Bulls victory, creating a full-circle moment between his first signature sneaker and the final stretch of his legendary Chicago career.
The Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Last Dance at the Garden” channels that history through a premium execution rather than an overt tribute. Familiar “Chicago” color blocking remains intact, though the traditional red leather overlays have been replaced with a textured woven floral material inspired by the famous Madison Square Garden name. White leather underlays provide a clean foundation, while black Swooshes are outlined in gold to match the Wings logo and metallic eyelets.
Additional details offer subtle nods to the arena’s home team. Orange and blue accents appear on the tongue lace keeper and insoles, referencing the opposing New York Knicks that call MSG home without dominating the design. The result is a sneaker that feels rooted in Jordan history while acknowledging the setting that helped define one of its most iconic moments.
