Original Story (07/30/24): 2025 is set to be a big year for Air Jordan sneakers. It marks the 40th anniversary of the Air Jordan 1, the shoe that kicked everything off for Jordan Brand. The festivities will include the return of some classic AJ1 colorways, including 2015’s “Shattered Backboard.”
According to SoleSavy, the Air Jordan 1 High OG “Shattered Backboard” will be returning in 2025, a decade after its original release. This colorway pays tribute to the time Michael Jordan played in an exhibition game in Trieste, Italy, following his Rookie of the Year NBA season in 1985. During the game, MJ put down a backboard-shattering dunk, making it rain shards of glass.
The SBB Air Jordan 1 features an black, white, and orange color scheme, matching the colors of the Stefanel Trieste jersey that MJ wore during this iconic moment. The success of 2015’s SBB Jordan 1 led to Jordan Brand dropping multiple sequels and variants, all featuring the signature “Starfish” orange hue.
The 2025 Air Jordan 1 High OG “Shattered Backboard” is expected to feature the exact same design as the 2015 release, keeping the same color blocking and leather construction. The most noticeable difference will be the shape, as the AJ1 High OG silhouette was remastered in 2022.
