Official Look at the Air Jordan 17 Low “UNC”

2

Original Story (08/17/24): After bringing back the Air Jordan 17 Low in the “Lightning” colorway earlier this year, Jordan Brand is now adding the “University Blue” colorway to the silhouette’s 2024 retro run.

Originally released in 2002, the AJ17 Low “University Blue” (aka “UNC”) features a white leather upper with Carolina Blue accents throughout, including on the inner bootie, heel, and midsole. Shiny hits of Chrome are found on the eyestays and on the heel counter, the latter protected by a blue-tinted peelable film.

Like MJ’s other “UNC” shoes, this colorway pays tribute to Michael Jordan’s days as a Tar Heel, playing at the University of North Carolina. The colors also happened to be compatible with Michael Jordan’s Washington Wizards uniform, and MJ would lace these up in the 2002-2003 NBA season.

The Air Jordan 17 Low “University Blue” is set to release on August 28th. These are expected drop in similar fashion to the Lightnings, meaning available only at select NBHD retailers with no SNKRS release. To add a bit of nostalgia, these will also come with special briefcase packaging, a nod to how the OG Air Jordan 17s released in 2002.
