There is a right way and a wrong way to do a football-inspired sneaker. The wrong way is to slap a flag graphic on a white shoe and call it a day. The right way is what Jordan Brand just did with the Air Jordan 3 Retro OG “Brazil” by referencing the Brazilian National Football Team’s away kits.
The base is done in Blue Void leather, a deep, rich, and grounded color, while Racer Blue comes through as a brighter contrast across the upper. Then the classic Brazilian palette hits everywhere you look: Varsity Maize on the lace eyelets, the miniature Swoosh and the midsole, with Lucky Green showing up on the Nike Air branding on the heel, the lace dubrae and the insoles. A surprise pink lands on the collar lining and tongue, giving the whole thing a jolt that keeps it from reading too on-the-nose.
Flip it over, and the heel tab goes deep navy with a speckled treatment. “BRASIL” and gold stars are embroidered inside the collar; one shoe gets the constellation, the other gets the word. There are also four alternate lace options that come in the box: white, pink, blue and green, so you can keep switching up the color combinations.
