The Air Jordan 3 OG “True Blue” is set to return in 2026, reigniting excitement for one of Jordan Brand’s most beloved original colorways.

One of four original colorways of the Air Jordan 3 released in 1988, this sneaker quickly became a fan favorite due to its bold yet classic design—a pristine white leather upper combined with cement grey elephant print overlays and vibrant True Blue and Varsity Red accents—that have remained timeless through the decades. The 2026 edition is expected to stay true to its roots, maintaining the original color blocking and much-loved “Nike Air” branding on the heel, a detail that adds authentic vintage flair and was notably revived in the 2016 retro release. Like many Jordan retro releases, the 2026 “True Blue” AJ3 will come in the MJ face box, first introduced in the early 2000s.

This release marks another chapter in the sneaker’s rich history, following successful retro launches in 2001, 2009 (overseas only), 2011, and 2016. Interestingly, Michael Jordan never wore the “True Blue” in an official in-season NBA game, as the pair was initially designed for the NBA All-Star Game, adding an exclusive allure to the silhouette. This iconic sneaker is poised to reclaim its place in sneaker culture as a testament to the timeless nature of great design and the legacy of Michael Jordan and his Nike partnership.

As first reported by Sneaker Files and zSneakerHeadz, the Air Jordan 3 OG “True Blue” is set to return on July 18th via SNKRS and select retailers in full family sizing. Stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for first looks and additional updates.
