The “White Metallic” Air Jordan 5 has always been quiet, no loud color blocking, no busy graphics, just clean white leather doing all the heavy lifting. Jordan Brand is bringing back the classic 2000 colorway for a new retro, and this go-around comes with one notable change that’s got heads talking.

Gone is the Jumpman logo on the heels. In its place? Nike Air, which separates it from both the 2000 original and the 2015 retro. The “23” on the sides also gets an updated font, a nod that pushes this pair closer to a ’90s look, making this feel less like a straight reissue and more like a studied revision.

Everything else you already love about this colorway is accounted for. White tumbled leather wraps the upper, translucent mesh fills the panels and tongue, and silver flames cut across the midsole. Another distinct feature of this one is its icy blue translucent outsole, rounding things out underneath. A not-so-secret detail reveals itself when you take a picture with flash, and you see that the tongue tab is bright and reflective.
