The Air Jordan 7 OG “Playoffs,” also known as “Dark Charcoal” and better known to some as “Raptors,” is reportedly making its return in early 2027, and it’s arriving with good reason. The retro will coincide with the silhouette’s 35th anniversary, giving Jordan Brand the perfect excuse to finally bring it back out of the vault.
This will only be the third time the shoe has seen a general release. The last time it hit shelves was in 2012, over a decade ago. Before that, the first retro landed in 2002, while the original debuted in 1992, before the Toronto Raptors even existed. The colorway also made a brief return in 2009 as part of the Air Jordan 7 DMP Pack, though that version featured more pronounced contrast between the dark charcoal base and black overlays.
As for the 2027 retro, expect the design to mirror the original release from 1992, equipped with Dark Charcoal nubuck uppers paired with black overlays, accented by hits of red and purple throughout. That would be a welcome return to the OG look, as the retros in 2002 and 2012 came with uniform all-black uppers to more closely resemble the pairs worn by MJ on court during his second championship run.
The Air Jordan 7 OG “Playoffs” release is slated to coincide with NBA All-Star Weekend, available February 20th via SNKRS and select retailers in full-family sizing. Stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for first looks of the 2027 retro and additional updates.
