This May, New Balance teams up with Tokyo-based retailer atmos to introduce a new iteration of the ABZORB 2010, bringing an edible-inspired concept to the silhouette.
The atmos x New Balance 2010 “Wasabi” draws from Japanese cuisine, inspired by the rich color of wasabi, one of sushi’s most recognizable traditional sides. The pair is equipped with four different green-toned suedes, ranging from an earthy greyish olive to a dark army green, reminiscent of the spice paste’s color when drenched in soy sauce. Cream mesh sits underneath, tying the shoe to its grey heritage roots. Rounding out the design is the kanji for wasabi (山葵) printed on the right insole.
This release marks the first drop from this year’s Grey Days, New Balance’s month-long celebration in May that highlights the brand’s legacy through special-edition releases and collaborations. Longtime collaborator atmos never disappoints, and this sneaker’s debut is no exception. Expect more commemorative drops from the Boston-based brand and its partners throughout the month.
