Original Story (10/24/25): Nike and Japanese retailer atmos go way back, having first joined forces in 2001 on what would become the start of one of sneaker culture’s most iconic partnerships. Over the years, the duo has delivered countless classics—and now they return with the Air Max 95 “HRJK,” celebrating atmos’ 25th anniversary and the 30th anniversary of the Air Max 95 silhouette.
The Air Max 95 “HRJK” pays homage to Tokyo’s Harajuku district, the birthplace of the Urahara streetwear movement and youth subculture that emerged in the ’90s with brands like BAPE and UNDERCOVER paving the way. Harajuku is also where atmos first set up shop in 2000 and pioneered the concept of the sneaker boutique, playing a crucial role in shaping Japan’s modern sneaker culture. Before atmos, sneaker enthusiasts’ only option was traditional sporting goods stores. atmos changed that, creating a cultural hub where people with a shared passion for sneakers could connect, collect, and socialize.
5 years later, atmos stands as one of Japan’s leading sneaker retailers, recognized globally for its coveted collaborations with Nike—including the “Safari” and “Elephant” Air Max 1s. The upcoming Air Max 95 “HRJK” holds special meaning for Hirofumi “Koji” Kojima, atmos’ longtime Creative Director and the visionary behind many of these projects. Harajuku is where Koji first fell in love with streetwear, and the Air Max 95 is the shoe that sparked his lifelong passion for sneakers.
Visually, the “HRJK” Air Max 95 mirrors Harajuku’s contrast of neon storefronts and moody backstreets through reflective black panels and pops of neon yellow, the latter nodding to the original “Neon” Air Max 95. A “HRJK” mark embroidered on the inner lining completes the tribute.
The atmos x Nike Air Max 95 “HRJK” will drop early at ComplexCon in Las Vegas, ahead of its official release on November 1st at all atmos shops in Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand. Check them out below.
Update (10/30/25): We met up with Koji at ComplexCon to discuss the “HRJK” Air Max 95. He revealed an important detail that we missed. The design is not only inspired by the OG “Neon” colorway, but also the rare black leather Air Total Max SC from 1996. Koji also revealed that only 400 pairs were released at ComplexCon.
