Original Story (09/29/21): New Balance is keeping the collaborations coming with two colorways of the 2002R created in collaboration with AURALEE. The Tokyo-based label unveiled the project as part of their Spring/Summer 2022 collection presentation.
AURALEE adds a minimal aesthetic to the 2002R silhouette in the same vein as their New Balance 550 FW21 project. Dressed in neutral tones, the uppers come in off-white and muted yellow iterations. Tonal paneling gives way to a mostly mesh toe and “N” branding. AURALEE’s signature high-quality ideas elevate New Balance’s signature style, translating in a shoe that blends both brands’ design process. Typical New Balance branding is found throughout the shoe, while AURALEE branding is only found on the insoles.
The New Balance x AURALEE 2002R will be available next spring on the AURALEE website and select retailers such as END. and SSENSE. Stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for further release info.

Update (07/07/22): AURALEE has announced the launch of its New Balance 2002R collab. These will be somewhat Japan exclusive, dropping via New Balance T-HOUSE and the AURALEE webstore on July 15th. Four retailers outside of Japan will also be releasing the shoe in August: END., SSENSE, BEAKER in Seoul, and Dover Street Market Beijing. Check out the lookbook photos below.
