Brooklyn-based visual artist Aya Brown is teaming up with Nike for her first collaboration, putting her own spin on the Air Max 95.

The collaboration first surfaced with a limited Friends & Family “Baroque Brown” colorway, with just 200 pairs distributed at a special event. The design takes on a “Beef & Broccoli” color scheme, pairing brown suede across the upper with accents of the OG Air Max 95’s signature neon green. Custom “abrown” branding appears on the tongues in the same font used for the classic “airmax” branding, while Aya Brown’s branding is featured on the outsoles.

Now, Brown’s Air Max 95 is preparing for a public release. While the actual shoe has yet to be fully revealed, a sketch of the upcoming colorway appears in the collaboration’s teaser video. Based on what has been shown so far, the public version features Atomic Green suede uppers with University Red accents appearing on the Air Max bubbles, lace locks, and tongues.

The collaboration extends beyond footwear, with the release event also offering a selection of Aya Brown goods, including tees, figurines, plushies, tote bags, journals, sticker packs, and more.

The Aya Brown x Nike Air Max 95 will launch at an NYC pop-up on August 15 from 11am to 6pm at 47 Chrystie Street. The all-ages event will feature music from Raisa Flowers and S.WHiT. A wider release will follow on August 21st at select retailers. Check out the teaser video below and stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for more.
