Def Jam Recordings is teaming up with BAPE for a collaboration that celebrates the American hip-hop label’s legacy in the music industry across the streetwear brand’s signature silhouettes.
The collection features the return of BAPE’s SKULL STA silhouette in two colorways—grey and brown—each covered in a camo print made specifically for this collection that featuring Def Jam’s logo and turntable arm motif. Additional details include “Def Jam Enterprises” branding on the lateral heels, white STA logos on the side panels, and BAPE branding embroidered in red on the back.
As for apparel, the collection also includes Shark Hoodies in brown and grey camo to match the kicks, with “DEF” on the hood replacing the standard “WGM” (World Gone Mad) lettering. There are also full camo tees in grey and brown and COLLEGE logo tees in black, white, and red.
The accompanying campaign features Sticky Fingaz and Fredro Starr of ONYX—the hardcore hip-hop group from New York City formed in 1988 that signed with Def Jam in 1992. The group went on to release a platinum-selling debut album, followed by two additional albums with the label. The campaign also features Redman, who is credited with helping Def Jam rebound from a period of financial struggle after signing with the label in the early ’90s.
The BAPE x Def Jam collection will be available October 18th via BAPE.COM and at BAPE STORE locations. Check out the collection below.
