Original Story (07/23/25): Since forming in 2020, Bronx Girls Skate has been on a mission to empower women through skateboarding by hosting skate events, supporting and sponsoring skaters, and fostering a sense of community in their home borough and beyond. The local impact of the all-female collective is now being celebrated on a global stage with a Nike SB Dunk Low collaboration releasing Holiday 2025.
The shoe features a black leather upper with a stingray textured finish, mimicking the look and feel of the asphalt that cover the streets of the Bronx. Red, green, and orange piping add pops of color along the edges of the overlays, representing the Bronx train lines, rounded out with hits of white on the leather Swooshes and embroidery on the heels. Meanwhile, gold hardware provides some added flair — “NY” hoop earring charms on the backs of the heels and BXGS-branded dubraes on the laces.
Additional personalized details are hidden throughout the shoe. “THE BRONX” and “THE WORLD” are etched across the heels of the midsoles. Underfoot, the translucent outsoles are adorned with subway train graphics and graffiti-style BXGS branding.
More graffiti-style BXGS branding is found inside the shoe on the tongue tags. Plus, there are a couple embroidered graphics on the sockliner, one of a sandwich and another of two arms forming an X. The insoles also have custom graphics, each with a message from Bronx Girls Skate co-founders Kava Vasquez and Mel Ramirez.
Nike SB’s collaboration with Bronx Girls Skate is the latest in a series of Dunk releases that highlight women-led skate organizations and support the next generation of female skaters. Chicago-based froSkate dropped their Dunk High collab in 2022, followed by Seattle-based Skate Like a Girl’s Dunk Low.
