adidas Originals unveils the Jabbar Lo x Bruce Lee collection, a tribute to the legacies of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Bruce Lee.
This exclusive collaboration unites cultural icons from the worlds of sport and cinema, drawing inspiration from both Jabbar’s dominance on the court and Lee’s mastery of martial arts.
The sneaker nods directly to the 1978 film Game of Death, where Bruce Lee not only starred but also cast Jabbar in his first and only film role. Their climactic showdown remains one of cinema’s most memorable fight scenes, blending Jabbar’s basketball agility with Lee’s martial artistry.
Beyond the screen, the two shared a deep friendship built on thoughtful conversations about life, a mutual pursuit of physical and intellectual excellence, and a curiosity about not just the what, but the how and why of the world around them.
Originally debuting in the 1970s as adidas’ first signature basketball shoe, the Jabbar Lo returns in 2025 in a striking utility yellow colorway, a nod to Lee’s iconic jumpsuit from Game of Death. Premium materials and elevated details complete the design, including Abdul-Jabbar’s Skyhook logo in gold foil, Lee’s kick logo stamped on the heel, Lee’s signature on the lateral side, and custom insoles featuring stylized artwork of both legends.
To complement the footwear, the release includes a capsule collection of graphic t-shirts depicting Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Bruce Lee’s Game of Death fight scene; a lasting symbol of their friendship. Each retails for $40 USD and serves as both a cultural time capsule and a tribute to the influence of two timeless figures.
