Skate culture and trail tech don’t always find common ground, but Carpet Company and Salomon made it make sense. The Baltimore-born brand was built from the ground up by brothers Ayman and Osama Abdeldayem since 2016, screen-printing tees and decks by hand before the world caught on. Now, Carpet Company has its fingerprints all over one of Salomon’s most distinct silhouettes.

The reference point for their XT-Whisper Void collab is as specific as it gets: Carpet’s 1995 Honda Acty Street van, the “Habibi Express.” The glossy upper shifts from a deep red at the heel to a warm orange, then back to red, giving the shoe an almost molten quality, with the yellow outsole balancing it out. Cobalt blue lines the collar while a neon lime insole, stamped with both logos and the pair number, adds a jolt of color. That high-gloss red finish pulls straight from the van’s paint job, while the iridescent TPU mirrors the windows’ reflective quality. Nothing about this colorway is accidental; every choice traces back to something real.

Only 1,720 numbered pairs exist, and that number doubles as an address. That’s 1720 Llewelyn Ave, the Baltimore warehouse where the Habibi Express actually lives. Collectible by design, wearable by nature.

The Carpet Company x Salomon XT-Whisper Void drops May 16th at Carpet Company’s Baltimore flagship, located at 100 E. North Ave. It then hits Carpet Company’s website on May 17th at 8pm ET, followed by a global release on May 21st via the Salomon website. Check out the pair below.
