It’s hard to believe it’s only been two years since New Balance introduced the 1906R. After first appearing in thisisneverthat’s “The 2022 Downtown Run” collection, the silhouette quickly exploded in popularity, and various brands from across the globe have since gotten their own collab on the model. The 1906R has now made its way back to South Korea for a new collaboration with CAYL.
Founded in 2011 by designer Euijae Lee, CAYL (Climb As You Love) is a South Korea-based lifestyle brand that specializes in climbing, trail running, hiking, and general outdoor apparel. The brand has previously worked with New Balance on two occasions: a CRV ZIP and CRV SLIDE collab in 2021, and a 610T and Fresh Foam X More Trail v3 collab in 2023.
CAYL is now once again bringing its technical outdoor expertise to New Balance’s footwear lineup, offering the 1906R in “Fire Gold Yellow” and “Floating Blue” colorway. Both come with ripstop uppers, utilizing the same rugged, functional textile that is a signature feature across CAYL’s clothing and accessory ranges. They also feature CAYL’s mountain logo on the lateral heel.
