Today marks what would have been the 80th birthday of Muhammad Ali. To celebrate, Champion enlisted Chicago’s Don C to design a luxe boxing capsule to honor the life and legacy of the late boxing legend.
This capsule marks the third installment in Champion’s Muhammad Ali collection, following the debut capsule dropped last February and Round II in August. This time around, the collection features premium fabrics with material sourced from Italy and includes nods to other champions from the sports, music, and art scene during the ’60s. For example, the cashmere-blend knit sweater features a design inspired by the pop art of Andy Warhol that pays tribute to the many faces of Muhammad Ali. In similar fashion, the plaited cotton jersey tee features graphics that nod to the peace, love and rock ‘n roll vibe of Ali’s golden era, with Ali’s name on the back in a font that nods to The Beatles.
Also included is a Cornerman’s Jacket that channels the custom-designed robe Elvis gave to Ali in 1973. It comes crafted of premium Champion satin with velvet on the sleeves and “People’s Champion” on the back in crystal rhinestones. Rounding out the collection are black and gold satin boxing shorts, velveteen track pants, and a luxe velvet boxing hoodie with gold satin on the sleeves.
The Champion x Muhammad Ali luxury boxing capsule by Don C is available now on the Champion website and at select retailers. Prices range from $250 for the tee to $550 for the jacket. Check out the collection below.
