Bronx-based retailer City Jeans is partnering with adidas for their own rendition of the Gazelle Indoor called “Diamond in the Rough,” a tribute to the vibrant communities that make up their borough.
The design of the sneaker focuses on celebrating the Bronx’s true identity, underlining the creativity, perseverance, and influential figures that emerge from within. Its black tear-away nylon upper represents the tough exterior often associated with the Bronx, while the hidden gem-toned blue layer underneath symbolizes those who rise above hardship through creativity and ambition. Additional details include reflective Three Stripes, a celestial blue inner lining, and a diamond-textured tongue. Limited to just 800 pairs, each “Diamond in the Rough” Gazelle is individually numbered, making this release feel like a hyper-local drop straight from the neighborhood. Lace options include vibrant blue, white, and black.
The name “Diamond in the Rough” highlights those who come from challenging upbringings to chase their dreams, including hip-hop artist Dave East, who has cemented his legacy within culture. This release serves as a tribute to him and countless others who have turned overlooked beginnings into lasting cultural impact.

The family-owned shop has been making fashion accessible to the people of the Bronx and surrounding areas, including Queens, with multiple locations for over a decade.
