Edison Chen’s CLOT and adidas are back with a new collaboration, the Patchwork Superstar, a reimagining of the classic shell toe that embodies the ethos of “converging contrasts, intertwining diversity.”
The design draws inspiration from “Baijia Bu” (hundred-family cloth), a traditional Chinese craft that combines fabrics from different families to symbolize collective blessings. Chen reinterprets this heritage technique through a modern lens, fusing patchwork pieces from past projects with contemporary streetwear aesthetics. Each pair is constructed from remnant fabrics of unreleased CLOT x adidas designs, blending knit, corduroy, suede, houndstooth, leather, and webbing into a layered patchwork that pays homage to Baijia Bu’s spirit of unity.
The sneaker’s warm color palette — featuring ochre, deep green, and creamy white — evokes the coziness of autumn and winter, while the mismatched color blocking between the left and right shoes nods to yin-yang philosophy, symbolizing harmony through contrast. The design also incorporates elements from the Superstar Breathe, including its half-shell toe and serrated outsole, balancing retro flair with modern functionality.
The CLOT x adidas Patchwork Superstar Breathe will be available October 13th at JUICE Shanghai, followed by a wider release on October 17th through select JUICE retail locations, the JUICE ONLINE WeChat Mini Program, and juicestore.com. Take a closer look below.
