NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Converse are back with three new colorways of the SHAI 001, his signature shoe crafted with comfort and durability for both on and off the court.
Each pair of the new SHAI 001 colorways honors a specific member of the MVP’s family. “Masi Blue” comes in the favorite color of Shai’s brother Thomasi, while the “Hail Clay” hue is inspired by the color of his wife Hailey’s eyes. Lastly, “Charm Black” honors his mother, Charmaine, and her all-black wardrobe.
The sneaker’s sleek design carries his signature logo, inspired by his jersey number, alongside mirrored 2s to represent his duality as an athlete and creative. The upper features a zipper for adjustability and maximum comfort. Enhanced with additional padding, the puffed upper and winged shroud give the aesthetically pleasing silhouette a futuristic touch. A Nike Zoom Air unit and radial underfoot traction optimize movement for flexibility and precision.
Shai became Creative Director of Converse Basketball in 2025, and soon after debuted his signature shoe with the SHAI 001 “Butter” colorway. The new iteration focuses on his family, making the basketball low-top shoe even more personalized. Additionally, an “Ares Gray” colorway dedicated to Shai’s son has also been unveiled, set to release at a later date.
