For its Fall/Winter 2026 collection, Denim Tears turns its attention to André Leon Talley, celebrating the legendary fashion editor whose influence reshaped luxury fashion while creating space for generations of Black creatives.
Founded by Tremaine Emory in 2019, Denim Tears has consistently used clothing as a vehicle for storytelling centered on the African Diaspora. This season continues that mission by focusing on a defining period in Talley’s career during the late 1990s and early 2000s, when he effortlessly blended European couture with Black fashion while using his platform at American Vogue to champion Black designers and expand the industry’s cultural perspective.
A standout component of the collection is a collaboration with Billionaire Boys Club, inspired by the now-iconic photographs of André Leon Talley alongside Lee Radziwill during New York Fashion Week in 2010. The capsule includes a graphic photo tee and a knit zip sweater featuring an oversized “$” motif across the back, recreating one of Talley’s most memorable Billionaire Boys Club looks in a new brown colorway.
The collection also includes a collaboration with longtime partner Stüssy, featuring a brightly colored sequin zip hoodie with matching sequin zip-off pants, alongside vibrant orange rain pants.
The accompanying lookbook continues the collection’s storytelling by casting influential Black creatives whose careers reflect Talley’s own impact on fashion. Among them are designers Andre Walker and Edward Buchanan, both pioneers who helped carve out space within historically exclusive European-led luxury fashion circles. Talley famously described Walker as a “friend and unsung genius” in his 2020 memoir, The Chiffon Trenches. The cast also includes fashion historian and journalist Ashantéa Austin and New York-based creative Yatta Bombata, further reinforcing the collection’s celebration of Black cultural influence across fashion.
Rather than arriving all at once, Denim Tears Fall/Winter 2026 will unfold across five releases throughout the season, with the first drop serving as the opening chapter.
Denim Tears Fall/Winter 2026 Drop 1 releases August 14th via denimtears.com and at African Diaspora Goods, Denim Tears’ 176 Spring Street flagship in New York, as well as Lenox Square in Atlanta. Check out the lookbook below.
