Hometown hero Derrick Rose and Fear of God founder Jerry Lorenzo celebrated the launch of the adidas Fear of God Athletics II Basketball D-Rose PE with a special VIP-only preview event in Chicago on December 4th. Over 150 of the Windy City’s leading tastemakers, creatives, and athletes gathered at SVRN for the festivities, including streetwear OGs like Don C, Vic Lloyd, Corey Gilkey of LDRS, PHLI founder Dave Jeff, and Fashion Geek founder Alonzo Jackson.
Guests enjoyed drinks, light bites, and music while they perused the store’s shoe walls, which showcased all of Rose’s signature basketball shoes with adidas, from the adiZero Rose 1 to the D Rose 11, as well as past prototypes.
Also on display was a never-before-seen model, the Fear of God Athletics III Basketball, Jerry Lorenzo’s next performance hoops silhouette with adidas. A black colorway was previewed at the event, while a grey colorway was debuted by Lorenzo courtside at the Bulls game the following night.
The release of the Fear of God Athletics II Derrick Rose PE is another chapter in the ongoing celebration of Rose’s legacy, as the former MVP continues to receive his flowers in his hometown following his retirement from the NBA. Earlier this year, D-Rose gave literal flowers to the city of Chicago with a special one-day-only pop-up flower shop, where thousands lined up in freezing temperatures to get a free bouquet of roses and take a picture with the Chicago Bulls legend. Now, with the Bulls officially set to retire his No. 1 jersey in January, the D-Rose PE launch serves as a timely reminder of how deeply Chicago still embraces its son.
The Fear of God Athletics II Basketball Derrick Rose PE is available now on adidas.com and at select retailers in Lo form. Some sizes of the Chicago-exclusive Hi version are available on the SVRN website.
