Vans has teamed up with Fabrica de Rosas, the Los Angeles-based bicycle studio founded by Jaime “Jimmy” Rosas, on a special Vans Authentic collaboration celebrating Mexican heritage, culture, and pride.

The shoe was designed to highlight the duality of the Mexican-American experience. From afar, it appears to be a typical Authentic in white with blue accents, but upon closer inspection, there are details that give the project a whole new meaning. The white leather uppers are textured to mimic ostrich leather, inspired by the cowboy boots worn by men at Mexican dances, rodeos, concerts, and parties where música norteña is played. Fabrica De Rosas branding is printed on the midsoles and embroidered on the tongue in the studio’s signature Aztec-inspired font, while the waffle outsoles feature messaging that reads “Entre Más Corriente Más Ambiente.” This expression roughly translates to “the more common, the better the ambiance,” suggesting that the most lively gatherings are often the least pretentious.

The Fabrica de Rosas x Vans Authentic drops Sunday, March 1st at a launch party hosted by Correas Marisco & Cocina in Los Angeles from 2-6pm, located at 1917 Zonal Ave. An online release has not been announced at this time. Grab a closer look in the campaign images below.
