Fear of God is teaming up with Major League Baseball for a multi-year partnership that merges fashion and community with the world of sport.
The first drop comprises an Essentials apparel collection highlighting legendary franchises including the Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, New York Mets, New York Yankees, Detroit Tigers, Oakland Athletics, Colorado Rockies, Atlanta Braves, Miami Marlins, Seattle Mariners, St. Louis Cardinals, and Minnesota Twins. Featuring tees, hoodies, crewnecks, sweatpants, shorts, and caps, the team apparel is designed utilizing traditional Fear of God silhouettes and with fans’ pride at the forefront.
“Baseball has always been the one constant in America. It reflects the times – where the country is, what the culture values, and how people come together,” says Fear of God founder Jerry Lorenzo. “It’s a mirror and a marker of American life, embodying both tradition and evolution.”
The FW25 collection is accompanied by a Picture Day campaign film by Los Angeles-based filmmaker and middle infielder Calmatic, known for directing the music video to Kendrick Lamar’s “squabble up,” Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road,” and the remakes for the films House Party and White Men Can’t Jump. The film and accompanying photography series capture the essence of America and its close relationship with the sport of baseball. The cinematic storytelling celebrates multi-generational family ties and showcases different shades of style with pieces from the MLB collection.
“Picture Day was always a big moment at the ballpark or the rec center. In many communities, the parents had just as much fun as the kids. It was about family, community, and pride,” says Jerry Lorenzo. “Picture Day was always an important moment,” Calmatic adds. “People came with a very high-end representation of who they were: it was an opportunity to bring out your best self, and then document it. Those pictures live forever, so people took them seriously. And, even though they’re doing something wholesome, and reflecting their kids’ Little League team, they’re still maintaining their social identity.”
Featured in the campaign is actress, model, and TV personality Lauren London, seen rocking a Seattle Essentials hoodie as a tribute to her long-time partner, the late rapper Nipsey Hussle, who was known to rock a Mariners hat.
The Fear of God Essentials x MLB collection is available now on the Fear of God website, Fanatics, MLB Shop, and at select retailers.
