Danish fashion house GANNI and New Balance are back with another collaboration, this time on the viral 1906L sneaker/loafer hybrid silhouette.
GANNI’s signature snake print adorns the 1906L’s penny loafer-style vamp in yellow, while the rest of the upper comes in black, sporting the mesh and synthetic overlay construction of a standard 1906 runner. The loafer straps are adorned with metallic branding: a GANNI butterfly logo on the right shoe and and an NB logo on the left, offering a sleek and luxurious feel.
The 1906L had the internet buzzing when photos of the Junya Watanabe collaboration first surfaced in early 2024. Its unique hybrid design merges sneaker comfort and technical features like mesh paneling and ABZORB cushioning with trendy loafer slip-on styling. Fashionistas love how it straddles formal and casual wear, making it highly versatile.
GANNI’s iteration deepens the narrative by reframing the shoe not just as a fashion piece, but as an identity — a reflection of duality. The accompanying campaign, shot in collaboration with Dazed, explores the concept of duality and versatility with rising artist Samara Cyn. The rapper and singer is styled as two distinct archetypes— the fearless, expressive “Statement Maker” and the “Effortlessly Sharp, Quietly Smart” persona—and the 1906L’s hybrid design represents both.
