Gap and A.P.C. are putting their names on the same label. The two brands have linked up for a 37-piece collection spanning men’s, women’s, and accessories, built around the idea of pairing Gap’s American basics with A.P.C.’s more understated Parisian sensibility.
Denim carries most of the collection’s weight. In a preview of the collection, this shows up on the men’s side in pieces like a raw indigo trucker jacket with contrast stitching, worn over a striped tee for a straightforward, workwear-leaning look. Women’s fits lean into A.P.C.’s slim, high-waisted silhouettes, including a dark wash denim mini paired with an oversized olive utility jacket and a striped top. The preview also includes a cropped shearling-collar corduroy jacket styled with wide-leg denim trousers and an oversized “A.P.C.” branded tote bag done in Gap’s collegiate lettering.
Beyond denim, the collection also pulls in Oxford shirting, knitwear, outerwear, and tailoring, along with a reworked Gap arch logo that shows up across an Extra Heavyweight Hoodie and select accessories. A sailor stripe motif — seen throughout these images on both the men’s and women’s tees — repeats across the line as one of its more consistent threads.
“For me, there is a chic way to be casual and a casual way to be chic,” says A.P.C. Founder Jean Touitou. “The research of that balance is at the heart of this collaboration, which brings the concept of ‘sheer casual’ to life. Gap and A.P.C. both aim to achieve authentic, familiar, well-made clothes that can become pillars of your wardrobe. Friendship and shared cultural affinities between America and France are also at the root of this project, which both our teams enjoyed exploring in a very natural way.”
The collaboration will be brought to life with a short film, The Long Way, directed by Karl Cannone and shot in Montmartre, starring rapper ian and DJ Paloma Bonnie Le Friant. Styled by Alastair McKimm and overseen by Gap’s Calvin Leung, the film leans into the collection’s 1960s reference points and the shared creative history between New York and Paris.
The Gap x A.P.C. collection launches September 18th on gap.com (9am ET), at 10 Gap stores in the U.S. and Canada, and at A.P.C.’s Mercer Street location. Gap Encore members and Cardmembers get early access starting September 17. Check out a preview of the collection below.
