Baltimore-based designer, podcaster, and fashion enthusiast Davon Ford has launched a new collection to celebrate 12 years of his brand, In Search Of.
In Search Of—named after the 2001 album from Pharrell Williams’ band N.E.R.D—draws inspiration from travel and wanderlust, a legacy passed down through generations of Davon’s family, starting with his grandfather, a veteran of the Vietnam War.
Headlining the 12th anniversary collection is the “Rolling Stone” MA-1 Jacket created in collaboration with Golden Bear and directly inspired by his grandfather’s life story.
“My grandfather was a rolling stone,” says Davon Ford. “He was never in one place for too long, and it all started with him going to Vietnam. He was always traveling—one of the most worldly people that I’ve ever met. I wanted to combine his military service—so I took the MA-1—with his jet-setting that began in the late ’60s. On the back of the jacket is a jet taking off, saying ‘From Baltimore with Love,’ since he spread a little bit of Baltimore everywhere he went.”
Features of the jacket include a Coyote Aviator Nylon Shell with ’60s-inspired jet setting back graphic, orange Thinsulate lining, and black wool/poly rib-knit cuffs. It’s finished with oversized, gold-plated, two-way Lampo zippers, a luxurious detail that nods to his grandfather’s eye for the finer things in life. The lookbook stars Davon’s mother and son, capturing the love of travel that has been passed down for four generations.
Accompanying the jacket are a hat, tees, and socks, all featuring In Search Of’s “ISO” Classic Logo.
“Not only is this collection for the 12th anniversary—it’s a dedication to me putting my all into design. I’ve had my Classic Logo tattooed on my arm for twelve years, and now it’s the official logo of In Search Of. This is my reinvention, this is my rededication to the brand. This is me putting everything into this because it’s no longer a hobby—this is my job.”
