Original Story (09/24/25): Infinite Archives founder Isimeme “Easy” Otabor has officially launched his collaboration with Jordan Brand on the Air Jordan 17 Low.
Easy has been building anticipation for this special project since Paris Fashion Week back in January, when he first revealed a sample purple colorway inspired by Mike Bibby’s PE. This was followed by the reveal of a red sample, inspired by the OG “Varsity Red” AJ17, and a third iteration in blue, a nod to the OG “College Blue” colorway.
Paying homage to the year 2002 — when the Air Jordan 17 first debuted — the retail version of the Infinite Archives x Air Jordan 17 Low incorporates colors from these original AJ17s on its outsole, along with nods to other classic colorways such as the “Lightning” and “UNC.” Each of these colored segments on the outsole unite like Infinity Stones on the Infinity Gauntlet, celebrating the rich history of the Air Jordan 17 line.
Meanwhile, leather uppers are dressed in a “Beach” tan hue, drawing inspiration from a sample pair of white Air Jordan 17s from the archive that naturally yellowed over time. Easy also picked this “Beach” hue as a tribute to two of his mentors, Virgil Abloh and Don C, who released their own Jordans in similar tones: the Off-White x Air Jordan 4 and the Just Don x Air Jordan 2. The design is completed with a black tongue and ankle collar, while metallic silver accents on the heel counter and heel logos add a refined finish.
To add to the archival theme, the shoes come in special packaging designed to resemble an archival document storage box. On the inside, the wrapping paper is covered in original sketches of the Air Jordan 17 by the silhouette’s designer, Wilson Smith III. The shoes also come with a pair of white gloves from the Department of Nike Archives (DNA), the same kind that Nike HQ visitors must wear when handling pairs from the vault.
Otabor has long been embedded in the sneaker and streetwear scene, which led to him landing a role as a buyer at RSVP Gallery, the Chicago boutique founded by Don C and Virgil Abloh. In 2015, Easy launched Infinite Archives, a brand and Instagram page known for storytelling through design by chronicling culture and history one year at a time.
The rollout for this Air Jordan 17 Low project actually started all the way back in May 2024, when the Infinite Archives Instagram account first began making posts focused exclusively on the year 2002. Since then, the campaign has also including a photoshoot with Sheck Wes and a special tribute to Wilson Smith III.
