NYC-based artist Jae Tips is back for a sixth collaboration with Saucony. Following his Matrix “No Shoes in the House” pack in 2024 and the “Grid Jazz 9 “I Love You But I’m Busy” drop earlier this year, the Bronx native is keeping the momentum going with a colorful ProGrid Triumph 4 pack featuring distinct colorways.
Inspired by the luscious flora found in New York City, the four pack of ProGrid Triumph 4s comes dressed in pink, green, purple, and red. Each pair is named after a different plant. The “Virginia Creeper” comes in a soft salmon pink with different shades of green while the “Sugar Maple” pair features a singular bright green. “Perilla” takes an even brighter route with a purple colorway, alongside “Poison Ivy”, a bold red with pops of light blue and yellow. While each pair features its own unique color palette, they all tie in together with Jae Tips’ signature sunflower logo and multicolor flower tongue tags.
Jae Tips gave Modern Notoriety a preview of his “Flowers Grow Uptown” pack when we visited his NYC pop-up sponsored by StockX back in August:
“The inspiration for Flowers Grow Uptown came from my daily walks in the Bronx,” says Tips. “Taking my kids to school and running errands, I began to notice the plants and beauty around me, which became a metaphor for finding beauty in the struggle. In my career, I have found all the inspiration I need in my immediate surroundings— and my path has become a metaphor for a flower that grows uptown.”
The “Flowers Grow Uptown” collection released early at Saucony’s London flagship store in Covent Garden on September 26th, as well as at a pop-up in New York City on the 27th. Both events offered first access to the “Virginia Creeper,” “Sugar Maple,” and “Perilla” colorways with a plant donation required in order to purchase a pair. These plants will be donated to local schools and community gardens. The fourth colorway, “Poison Ivy,” will make its debut at ComplexCon Las Vegas on October 25th.
EQL raffles for the “Virginia Creeper,” “Sugar Maple,” and “Perilla” colorways go live on October 1st at noon ET and will be open for 48 hours. A global release will follow on October 10th at 9am ET on Saucony’s website and at select retailers. Following its ComplexCon debut, an online drop of the “Poison Ivy” colorway will take place on October 31st via EQL raffle (open October 29th) and on Saucony’s website (10am ET).
