In 2004, adidas turned to Japan’s legendary shoe designer Toshiaki Omori to create a new running shoe that pushed the boundaries of fast. Omori carefully considered every aspect of footwear design, from the choice of materials, to the weight and cushioning of the sole. After years of development, adidas and Omori were ready to introduce the world to Adizero. In 2008, Ethiopian long-distance runner Haile Gebrselassie laced up the first prototypes of the Adizero Adios, and ended up breaking the world record at the Berlin Marathon.
Today, the Adizero franchise spans across various sports, including running, tennis, football, baseball, and basketball. Each shoe in the Adizero series was designed to be lightweight, responsive, and most importantly, fast. The latest member of the Adizero family is the Adizero Select 2.0, a performance basketball sneaker that boasts breathability and reduced weight with its lightweight mono upper, fortified by ripstop reinforcement. Underfoot, its Lightstrike foam midsole is sculpted for ultra-lightness, further contributing to weight reduction, while strategic cutouts on the outsole, midsole, and strobel ensure a lightweight and breathable experience in every step.
The Adizero Select 2.0 makes its debut with a “For The Fast” campaign starring Houston Rockets shooting guard Jalen Green. Inspiring the next generation of athletes, Jalen’s speed, drive, and range of motion perfectly embodies the capacity of this lightweight basketball shoe. The Adizero Select 2.0 made its on-court debut on January 17th, when Green laced them up at Madison Square Garden against the Knicks.
