PUMA and Korean menswear designer Jiyong Kim are teaming up for their second collaboration, this time reworking the CELL Geo with the designer’s distinctive approach to aging, fading, and material experimentation. Known for bleaching garments using only the sun, Jiyong Kim has built his design language around the natural marks left by time, resulting in pieces with faded colors, stains, and weathered textures.
For this latest project, Kim looked to aged paper as the starting point, drawing inspiration from the dirt, mold, and decay that accumulate over time. That influence comes through in the CELL Geo’s upper, which features a distressed, paper-like treatment that gives the futuristic runner a distinctly worn-in appearance. Aged fabrics, frayed laces, and irregular surface details further emphasize the natural aging process, creating a contrast with the shoe’s technical construction.
The CELL Geo’s sculptural shape remains intact, anchored by its signature decoupled CELL heel unit for cushioning and a bold geometric finish. Fluid cut lines and semi-shrouded laces preserve the silhouette’s streamlined profile, while the experimental treatments bring a new material perspective to PUMA’s performance-inspired design.
The collaboration arrives in two colorways, including a black edition exclusive to JiyongKim,
alongside a globally available light-toned iteration.
To celebrate the launch, PUMA and JiyongKim will also host a one-day exhibition in Seoul on November 7 from 11am-6pm at Arumjigi, located at B1, 17 Hyoja-ro in Jongno-gu. The presentation will showcase the collaboration alongside archival sneakers and materials bearing the marks of time, offering a closer look at the references and processes behind the project.
The JiyongKim x PUMA CELL Geo launches November 7th through PUMA.com, PUMA flagship stores, select PUMA stockists, and JiyongKim’s online store and flagship in Seoul. In Japan, the release will be exclusive to GR8 on November 14, accompanied by a dedicated pop-up. Check out both colorways below.
