“Let’s Get Weird.” That’s the message Joe Freshgoods is sending with his latest collaboration with New Balance on the 1890. The Chicago designer wants his fans to have fun and tap into nostalgia, dressing the “Finger Waves” and “Naughty Things” pairs in wild colors inspired by ’90s rap music videos. Now, a third colorway of the JFG 1890 has been revealed—and it pushes that “Let’s Get Weird” energy even further.
This iteration of the JFG x New Balance 1890 features an orange and blue pattern across the mesh upper, evoking the vibrant look of a poison dart frog. Synthetic neon green overlays, yellow teardrop-shaped embellishments, a brown midsole, and a teal outsole add more layers of craziness to the color palette. Dubbed “Cut the Check,” the shoe’s name nods to the bigger budgets Joe Freshgoods has been able to secure from his partners as his brand continues to grow.
The Joe Freshgoods x New Balance 1890 “Cut the Check” and the rest of the collection will be available on April 24th at the Chicago launch party at the Museum of Contemporary Art. Any remaining pairs will be available April 25th at 10am CT on the JFG website. RSVP to the Chicago launch event here and check out the new colorway in the photos below.
