LA-based artist Joshua Vides is infusing his signature black-and-white style to a new collaboration with New Balance.
In a recent IG post, Vides explains that this project highlights the creative “PROCESS” and is dedicated to the creative underdogs doing what they love to do. The collection features a cream 57/40 with black outlines, a “sketch-to-life” art style that Vides is best known for. Black specks are also splattered onto the shoe, representing the paint that often gets on Vides’ shoes and clothing while creating. A black 327 in the collection comes covered in white paint in similar fashion. Both shoes come in wooden crate-themed shoe boxes, inspired by the crates used to transport fine art.
The “making of” moments are further highlighted with the paint splatter on the apparel collection, comprised of tees, hoodies, and shorts. These paint marks were directly scanned from Joshua’s day-to-day studio tees to create almost identical Joshua Vides x NB versions.
The Joshua Vides x New Balance FW21 collection launches Friday, November 6th at 9am PT. Sign up now on joshuavides.com for first access. A wider release follows on November 13th on newbalance.com. Check out the lookbook photos and “Chapter One: Keep Going” campaign video below.
