Automotive-inspired fashion label L’ART—founded in 2017 as the lifestyle extension of cult Parisian garage KAR L’Art de L’Automobile—continues its partnership with Salomon, blending a shared obsession with speed, engineering, and design.
Coinciding with the Paris Marathon on April 12, the collection is led by the race-ready Salomon S/LAB PHANTASM 3, featuring infrared graphics inspired by heat mapping and motion, alongside the Salomon ACS PRO L’ART, reimagined through L’ART’s motorsport-driven lens. The latter arrives with a black base accented by bright blue, yellow, and orange hues, echoing race car liveries. Co-branding and the number “42” appear on both pairs, referencing the 42-kilometer distance of a marathon. Beyond footwear, the capsule includes racing-inspired apparel, warm-up kits, and technical accessories that bridge performance and lifestyle.
“To me, shoes move people just like cars do,” says Arthur Kar, founder of L’ART. “The Phantasm 3 draws direct inspiration from sports cars, both in its look and in the technology behind it. Salomon engineered it with aerodynamic performance in mind, the same way you would design race cars. The connection between these two worlds felt natural, and I knew it had to be expressed the L’ART way while building an entire capsule around it.”
The accompanying cinematic campaign draws inspiration from Salomon’s documentary on the development of the S/Lab Phantasm 3. The film follows a team of scientists inside a specialized lab, all working toward a single goal: creating the fastest shoe in the world. Their process pushes experimentation to the extreme, testing everything from elite runners to cars—and even a goat—inside a wind tunnel in pursuit of peak performance.
Drawing a parallel between motorsport and footwear innovation, the campaign reimagines the shoe as a high-performance racing machine, with the scientists acting as its pit crew. Aerodynamic flow patterns generated during testing become a defining visual language, directly informing the collection’s graphics and color gradients. The result is the S/LAB PHANTASM 3 L’ART, engineered for maximum speed, with the broader capsule extending this racing-inspired concept across footwear and apparel. Throughout the film, the ACS PRO L’ART appears as part of the scientists’ uniform, reinforcing the connection between performance, engineering, and style.
The collaboration will also come to life during the Paris Marathon weekend, with on-the-ground activations along the course. On race day, Salomon and L’ART will host a cheer zone at the 26-kilometer mark, offering coffee, music, and a space for both runners and spectators to recharge. Meanwhile, a select group of athletes will take on the marathon wearing the S/LAB PHANTASM 3 and full collaboration kit, bringing the collection’s performance focus into real-time action.
This marks the latest chapter in the duo’s ongoing collaboration, following their 2022 debut on the ACS PRO Advanced and a 2024 release featuring the XT-4 OG and Speedcross 3, each grounded in automotive-inspired design language.
The KAR L’Art de L’Automobile x Salomon collection is now available on the L’ART website, with a release in Paris slated for April 11th at Salomon Champs-Élysées, Salomon Sportstyle Le Marais, and The Broken Arm.
