KAWS has announced a new collaboration with Sesame Street, introducing a collection on vinyl figures featuring fan-favorite characters from the beloved children’s show.
The collection includes vinyl figures of Elmo, Big Bird, Bert & Ernie, and Oscar the Grouch in KAWS’s signature style and in some of the artist’s popular past sculpture poses. The figures range from 10 to 13 inches tall and come with a certified NFC chip of authenticity.
This collaboration is releasing ahead of the Water Parade by AllRightsReserved at Victoria Harbour in Hong Kong. The event runs from October 25th to November 1st and will feature giant inflatable sculptures from internationally acclaimed IPs and artists, including Doraemon, McDonald’s Grimace, KAWS x Sesame Street, and more. The Big Bird figure will be released exclusively to Water Parade ticket holders and can only be pre-ordered on-site at the event. It can also be purchased online as a set of 2 alongside the Elmo figure.
Contemporary artist Brian Donnelly, professionally known as KAWS, first linked up with Sesame Street in 2018 in a triple collab with Uniqlo which included apparel and plush toys. After a 7-year hiatus, KAWS x Sesame Street is back, blending pop culture nostalgia with KAWS’s distinctive blend of street art and collectible design.
