Ahead of March Madness, Drake’s October’s Very Own is partnering with the University of Kentucky for a nostalgic apparel capsule that celebrates all of the Wildcats men’s basketball team championship titles from throughout the years.
Each piece represents the eight championship seasons in which the Wildcats have been crowned. Starting off the collection is a cream cardigan with blue accents and co-branding, highlighting the historic era that ran from 1948 to 1949. Led by coach Adolph Rupp, the Wildcats earned another championship in 1951, which is displayed on a deep blue varsity jacket, complete with black leather sleeves and embroidered co-branding.
Next up is the 1958 championship hoodie, followed by a 1978 tee and 1996 tee featuring claw slashes cutting through the OVO Owl logo, before revealing a shining “K,” nodding to their “Untouchables” era. Continuing down the line of wins, the 1998 tracksuit defines the team’s series of comebacks. The capsule finishes off with their 2012 championship and a blue cap featuring all of the years in white embroidery.
