Kiko Kostadinov has been killing the footwear game with its numerous ASICS projects, while also dropping hit collab collections with the likes of Hysteric Glamour and Heaven by Marc Jacobs. The London-based fashion label is now making its foray into denim, teaming up with Levi’s for their first collaborative collection, encompassing both menswear and womenswear silhouettes.
After making its runway debut at Kiko Kostadinov’s Paris Fashion Week shows earlier this year (men’s in January 2024 and women’s in March 2024), the Levi’s x Kiko Kostadinov collection is now ready for public release. The eponymous designer brings his conceptual approach to fashion to the seven-piece capsule, reworking Levi’s denim pieces and knit tops with twisted seams, ventilation eyelets, textured details, and bold dart placements.
On the Menswear side, Kiko Kostadinov reinterprets archival features from ’90s-era Levi’s Engineered Jeans, evolving the original engineered twisted construction with new knee and elbow darting construction that introduces diamond inserts inspired by traditional Bulgarian motifs. These design cues are also translated onto the denim jacket, with eyelets applied inside the diamond panels, creating a conceptual visual language as well as functional ventilation for the garments. Rounding out the menswear offering is a hybrid jersey cardigan in black and grey, blending together classic sportswear cardigans and western shirts, with an asymmetric front opening, side patch pocket, and top stitching all around.
Laura and Deanna Fanning, the creative directors of Kiko Kostadinov Womenswear, showcase the brands’ fondness for fuzzy textures on the waist of the women’s relaxed fit jeans, featuring denim washed in umber tones. The matching denim jacket comes with large, shaped sleeves and a darted, waist-cinching gilet overlay. Rounding out the capsule is a jersey top with diagonal striping in soft colors.
The Levi’s x Kiko Kostadinov collection launches globally on Thursday, August 22nd via levi.com, the Levi’s app, select Levi’s stores, kikokostadinov.com, and Kiko Kostadinov Tokyo. Check out the product shots and campaign images below.
