Original Story (3/6/25): Ronnie Fieg has announced Kith’s expansion with a new flagship store opening in Osaka this spring. This marks the brand’s second location in Japan, following the opening of their Tokyo flagship in 2020. In his announcement post, Ronnie Fieg also shares a look at two Kith x New Balance collaborations releasing to commemorate the opening.

The Kith x New Balance “Osaka” pack includes the MADE in USA 992 and the MADE in UK 991v2, both featuring icy blue hues. The 992 comes in a lighter palette, combining baby blue suede with matching suede overlays. Meanwhile, the 991v2 takes on New Balance’s classic “Steel Blue” colorway that debuted on the 1300CL—one of Fieg’s favorite shoes of all time. The Kith founder has revisited this colorway on several of his New Balance projects over the years, from the 999 in 2012 to the 990v3 in 2022. This time around, the color scheme was chosen as a nod to the rare 1300JP “Steel Blue,” which became a beloved style in Japan following its debut in 1985.

The launch of the Kith x New Balance 992 and 991v2 will coincide with the grand opening of Kith Osaka on March 21st. Further release details have yet to be announced, though expect these to also be available on Kith.com and on the Kith app. Grab a look at both pairs below and stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for updates.

Draws for both pairs open March 20th on the Kith app, ahead of the official release on March 21st at Kith stores, the Kith website, and Kith app. The in-store release for the 992 will be exclusive to Kith Osaka.
