Nike’s Kobe universe keeps expanding. Following the unveiling of the upcoming Kobe 5 Protro and Air Force 1 styles, two new additions to the “Lower Merion” pack has been revealed: the Nike Kobe Dunk Low Protro in Home and Away colorways, inspired by the Kobe Bryant’s alma mater.
Drawing from Bryant’s high school hooping days with the Lower Merion Aces in Philly, the pack includes a maroon-based colorway that mirrors the team’s away uniforms and a white pair inspired by the home jerseys. Each feature satin uppers with leather overlays and chenille Swooshes trimmed in white piping, a nod to classic letterman jackets.
Additional details include Kobe’s sheath logo embroidered on the tongue, his No. 33 high school jersey stitched onto the lateral heel, and an inner tongue quote that reads “Friends hang sometimes. Banners hang forever,” referencing when Kobe led the team to their first state championship in 53 years in 1996. The Away pair is finished with a full gum rubber sole unit, while the Home colorway opts for a vintage-inspired look with waxed maroon outsoles.
These Dunks mark the second Kobe lifestyle Protro release, following the Air Force 1 Protro from last year. True to the Protro (performance retro) designation, the model features performance-driven upgrades not typically found on the Dunk Low. A drop-in React midsole handles cushioning, while the outsoles incorporate snake and sheath logo details. Mini sheath logos also replace the standard star-shaped traction at the toe and heel.
To accompany the footwear, Nike is also dropping a Kobe Dri-FIT tee and pullover hoodie, both done in Lower Merion colors. Both pieces feature the number 33, with a large sheath logo on the tee and a smaller hit on the hoodie, alongside the “Banners hang forever” quote.
Nike is going the SNKRS Reserve route for the “Away” colorway, releasing through the same pre-order method used for the “Swooshman” GT Future. Reservations open on March 23rd and pairs will be shipped by July 25th. The apparel will release as a standard SNKRS drop on March 23rd.
The Nike Dunk Low Protro “Lower Merion Home” will release exclusively via Philadelphia’s Lapstone & Hammer. An in-store release will be held on March 21st at 10am FCFS, with any remaining pairs dropping March 23rd at 10am ET. Check out both colorways below.
