Philadelphia-based sneaker boutique Lapstone & Hammer is teaming up with ASICS to present a GEL-KAYANO 12.1 inspired by the moment of ignition and the evolving flame that follows.
The duo’s ASICS GEL-KAYANO 12.1 is centered around the delicate but essential role of a spark — one that has the power to spread, ignite, and become a flame when it is nurtured and fueled. The fire that shines from the initial start of a spark symbolizes the power of one idea to change the world.
Dubbed “The Spark,” the pair features an open diamond knit mesh upper, metallic silver and cream premium pebbled leather panels, and black hairy suede Formstripes on the lateral side. Key details include an 100% cotton duck canvas tongue, subtle sparkle detailing, and red accents on the GEL midsole and ASICS heel logo reminiscent of a flame and spark. Red-dipped lace tips nod to match heads, and each pair purchased from Lapstone & Hammer comes with a custom-printed box of matches.
Lapstone & Hammer founder and director Brian Nadav wrote a poem titled “FIND YOUR SPARK AND LET IT BURN!” that signifies the meaning behind the collaboration:
