Levi’s Opens New Michigan Avenue Flagship in Chicago

A collection by Ron Louis will be available exclusively during opening weekend.

Levi’s is celebrating its connection to Chicago with the opening of a new flagship store on Michigan Avenue, bringing together local artists, businesses, and cultural institutions for a citywide celebration. Among the highlights is an exclusive capsule collection by Chicago fashion designer Ron Louis, known for his custom denim, streetwear, and signature “Blue Tag” work.

Available exclusively during opening weekend, the Ron Louis x Levi’s collection brings the designer’s perspective to the heritage denim brand. Louis will also be on hand at the flagship for live customization and will lead a Wear Longer Project workshop focused on garment care and longevity.

The new store is located on the corner of Michigan Avenue and Erie Street on Magnificent Mile, with its opening anchored by the theme “Where Originals Meet.” Turn your attention to the sky and you’ll find original artwork by acclaimed Chicago artist Hebru Brantley, whose signature FLYBOY character appears reimagined in Levi’s denim. Born and raised in the city’s Bronzeville neighborhood, Brantley is known for his distinctive blend of Afrofuturism, pop art, street culture, and social commentary. His artwork will remain on display above the storefront through December 31.

Levi’s has also tapped several other Chicago creatives and institutions to bring the flagship to life. In the lead-up to the grand opening, The Goody Vault founder Emanuel “Manny” Edwards hosted an evening of mending, music, and community at Levi’s Wicker Park location on November 2, while also curating 90 vintage Levi’s pieces from the 1950s through the 1990s for the Michigan Avenue store.

Reckless Records hosted a live performance by Mike Kinsella of American Football on November 4, with the independent record shop also contributing a curated Levi’s vinyl section and co-branded tote.

Additional opening activations include a live screen-printing appearance by artist JC Rivera on November 14 and 15, featuring his signature Bear Champ character. The Wiener’s Circle is also participating in the celebration with a marquee takeover running through November 8, custom Levi’s denim aprons for staff, and a limited-time menu item bundled with Local Style Chips.

On November 7, Levi’s will host a free Wear Longer Project workshop for Chicago high school students, offering instruction in sewing fundamentals and garment care. The initiative is part of the brand’s broader effort to make practical clothing skills more accessible to younger generations.

The Levi’s Michigan Avenue flagship officially opens Friday, November 6, at 10 am, located at 663 N Michigan Ave. Opening weekend will feature live artist customization, exclusive vintage and artist-led collections, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Store employees will also wear a custom Levi’s look created exclusively for the opening, featuring Chicago-inspired embroidery.
