Levi’s and BEAMS Bring Loopwheeler Into the Super Wide Trucker

Featuring “TSURIAMI” fabric.

Levi’s and BEAMS are adding a third name to their partnership. For their fifth chapter, the two brands are teaming up with Japanese sweatwear maker Loopwheeler for the first time on a six-piece capsule that marks BEAMS’ 50th anniversary. The collection includes a trucker, a pair of pants, and a bandana, each in two colorways.

In this collection, the fabric is the main focus. Loopwheeler’s “TSURIAMI” fleece is knit on hanging-loop machines in Wakayama, Japan, where the brand’s craftspeople have worked since 1920. The machines are slow and increasingly rare, turning out about a meter of fabric an hour. The Super Wide fit from earlier Levi’s x BEAMS capsules gets rebuilt in that soft, heavy fleece.

The Super Wide Trucker is cut on the classic Type I pattern, with the pleated front, a single flap pocket, and a buckled cinch across the back. Co-branded logos sit on the cuff and the front pocket, and a leather-style patch inside the collar carries the Levi’s mark. It comes in grey melange and navy, the two colors most tied to Loopwheeler.

The Super Wide Pant uses the same fleece in the same two colors, but dressed like a five-pocket jean, with a button fly and the red tab on the front pocket. Contrast stitching on the back pockets draws the eye to the Levi’s tab, and a co-branded patch sits on the waistband. A Loopwheeler clip-on pocket attaches to the front. The bandanas, in red and navy, borrow the paisley borders and batwing logos of vintage Levi’s versions, with BEAMS and Loopwheeler running along the edges and small cowboy figures tucked into the pattern.

Shot in Oakland, the campaign brings together two generations of the city’s motorcycle scene. Max Schaaf, the pro skateboarder and longtime custom bike builder behind 4Q Conditioning, appears alongside his younger friend Steven Orellana. Schaaf’s work at 4Q focuses on building and customizing motorcycles, making him a natural fit for a campaign that taps into the spirit of “Easy Rider”. The collection also gets a short film that travels to Loopwheeler’s factory in Japan, shifting from the open road to the machinery and hands-on work behind the fabric.
