LA-based streetwear brand MENACE reunites with adidas for a follow-up to last year’s “Heirlooms” Superstar collab, introducing a new iteration of the silhouette in celebration of Mother’s Day.
Dubbed “Old Rose,” the pair serves as a personal tribute to MENACE founder Steven Mena’s immigrant mother, honoring the resilience and courage it takes to leave behind a home and build a new life in another country. Inspired by her favorite flower, the pair arrives in a dusty rose pink and builds off the duo’s first Superstar collaboration, equipped with rugged workwear materials and precise stitching.
“When adidas Originals brought us to headquarters to design this shoe, the first thing I did was call my mom and ask her favorite color. Her answer became the foundation for the entire design language of our Superstar,ˮ says Mena. “‘Old Roseʼ is dedicated to my mom and the sacrifices she made so I could pursue my dream in streetwear and fashion through MENACE. These shoes carry her spirit, the weight of those sacrifices, and the love that is the foundation for everything we’ve built. This one is for my mom, and for every mom out there.ˮ
To celebrate the launch, MENACE and adidas will host a special Motherʼs Day weekend pop-up flower shop in Los Angeles on Saturday, May 9th. The first 100 attendees who arrive with their mother or a loved one will receive complimentary flowers, along with a buy-one, gift-one opportunity on the “Old Rose” adidas Superstar. Guests can also enjoy custom conchas by La Princesa Bakery, matcha and sparkling lemonade from Harun Coffee, and limited-edition tees, while supplies last.
