Mowalola Ogunlesi is bringing her fearless design language to Jordan Brand this fall with a two-shoe Air Jordan 14 collection and matching apparel.

The Lagos-born, London-based designer first broke through with her 2017 Central Saint Martins graduate collection, drawing inspiration from Nigerian rock culture of the 1970s and ’80s with leather-heavy, skin-baring silhouettes. Since then, she’s built a reputation for pushing boundaries, made her London Fashion Week debut through Fashion East in 2019, served as design director for Yeezy Gap, and collaborated with brands such as New Balance and Ksubi.

The centerpiece of her Jordan Brand collection is an Air Jordan 14 dressed in chocolate-brown leather with a subtle laser-etched tartan pattern running across the upper. Because the leather reacts slightly differently to the laser-etching process, no two pairs will look exactly alike. Mowalola’s cursive signature is also laser-etched into the upper rather than stitched or printed.

The bigger surprise is the second shoe: an Air Jordan 14 Mule dressed in dark grey with black and metallic silver accents. Instead of a laser-etched signature, the mule features an embossed Mowalola logo. The designer chose to include the backless silhouette because she rarely wears traditional sneakers or high-tops herself and wanted a pair from the collection she’d actually wear.

Mowalola officially unveiled the collaboration at her pop-up during Paris Fashion Week, giving attendees an early look at both the AJ14 and AJ14 Mule.

Packaging gets its own moment, too. Mowalola said she wanted the box itself to represent her, making the experience feel less like unboxing a sneaker and more like opening a piece of her world. The lid is printed with Mowalola’s silhouette, giving the impression that she’s pressing against the box from within.

The drop will also include apparel that leans into tartan, featuring a full matching tracksuit that carries a bold red stripe down the left chest, stamped with a silver “23.” The sporty tailoring feels closer to European luxury sportswear than traditional basketball apparel. A perforated red leather collared top has also been previewed, along with black leather hot shorts and tank tops for women.

The Mowalola x Air Jordan 14 collection launches globally on September 11th, releasing via the Mowalola website, SNKRS, and select retailers. Check out the preview below and stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for updates.
