Nigel Sylvester hosted his third annual GO RIDE event over the weekend, where hundreds of fans gathered in the streets of New York City, Miami, and Mexico City to ride bikes with the BMX superstar. In just 30 hours, Nigel connected with the biking communities of each city, while also celebrating his new partnership with McDonald’s and hosting early releases of his “Better With Time” Air Jordan 1 Low OG collab.

Modern Notoriety had the opportunity to kick off GO RIDE 2025 with Nigel in NYC, where we first linked up at McDonald’s for a VIP Media breakfast to celebrate his 1 in 8 partnership with the Golden Arches. One in eight Americans has worked at McDonald’s at some point in their life, including Nigel, who worked the register as a teen to save up for bike parts. During our meal, Nigel discussed how the skills and lessons he learned during his time as a McD crew member helped shape his path in becoming an entrepreneur and BMX icon.

We also did a quick fit check with Nigel, who wore a custom version of the McDonald’s 1 in 8 “In The Crew” Varsity Jacket adorned with his GO bike logo. The jacket was designed by artist and entrepreneur Kendall Hurns—also a member of the 1 in 8 community—and serves as a symbol of pride for McDonald’s crew members past and present.

On-feet, Nigel wore his upcoming Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Better with Time” collab and gifted pairs to a couple dozen McDonald’s employees in celebration of his 1 in 8 partnership.

We then joined up with NYC’s biking community at Coleman Skatepark, the official starting point of GO RIDE NYC, and hit the streets for a group bike ride with the likes of FERG and Ronald McDonald. Our day ended at Extra Butter for an early release of the “Better With Time” AJ1 Low. Check out the full recap of our time with Nigel in NYC in the video below.
