Nike is no stranger to putting video game references in their sneakers. In 2025 alone, the company’s .SWOOSH division released pairs inspired by Donkey Kong, GoldenEye, Tomb Raider, and FIFA. On the way in 2026 is an Air Force 1 that pays tribute to the classic 2004 fighting game Def Jam: Fight for NY.
Dubbed the Air Force 1 “NYKE,” the shoe comes with ready-to-brawl black Air Force 1 energy, featuring premium all-black leather construction. A tonal graffiti-style graphic on the heel reads “NYKE,” bringing additional New York flavor to the Uptown.
The most overt reference to the Fight for NY, however, is the quote printed on the insoles and on the bottom of the clear outsoles, “While you’re down there how about you shine my shoes?” This is the famous taunting line spoken by the player character after defeating an opponent.
Additional features include miniaturized Swoosh logos on the side panels, debossed Swoosh logos on the leather tongue tags, and a graffiti marker hangtag.
The Nike Air Force 1 “NYKE” is set to release in Spring 2026 on Nike.com and at select retailers. Check out the official images below and stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for more.
